Distribution of sheep to the victims of the typhoon in Somalia

Most of Somali population basically relies on the livestock, which is their only source of economy. Million head of stock especially sheep were recently destroyed by the typhoon floods, which hit the eastern part of Somalia.

 

Karama charity foundation voluntarily distributed about 785 heads of sheep to the affected nomadic herders in the costal areas of Somalia, these donations is estimated to cost us $55000 as per the details provided by the foundation.

The foundation choose to provide purchase sheep for distribution to the affected nomadic herders in the costal region as it is in line with their daily economic source and use .

The hurricane tragic has rendered the pastoralists homeless and with no heads and therefore force them to depend on the foreign aids.

The karama charity foundation after reserving the tragic news organized a fundraising committee consisted of businessmen, community leaders chaired by karama charity foundation Chairman, the foundation collected us $55000 which was used to help the effected persons.

Executive Director of the foundation traveled to the affected areas in coordination with the president of puntland and community leaders to provide necessary assistance where we purchased and distributed 785 ships (seven hundred and eighty-five) to those who lost their livestock in the cyclone.

The objective of the project to buy sheep for flood victims is:

1 - Housing and rehabilitation of those who affected by the floods into normal life.

2 - Prevent mass displacement of villagers and rural areas to big cities and the capital, or to refugee camps in neighboring countries.

3 - Trying to alleviate the damage caused by the disaster that hit those areas.

4 - Contribute to the rebuilding and reconstruction in Somalia that devastated by a civil wars and natural disasters, and to contribute in restoring the confidence of the Somali citizen in their own country.

5 - To contribute to the gross national product in the country and revive the economy of the country facilities which livestock one of the most important.
